The Wenatchee Valley Sports Foundation awarded the Wenatchee Curling Club a $600 grant in October to help bring the sport to a wider audience.
The Curling Club has expanded from two 'sheets' in the old ice arena to four in the new Town Toyota Center and need extra equipment.  Club treasurer Greg Sexton said, "without this money, we wouldn't be able to get the extra supplies need to actually expand to all four sheets.  We are really thankful to the Sports Foundation for their help."
After receiving its check, the Curling Club went right out and spent it all on new hacks, sliders and brushes from Steve's Curling Supplies in Madison, Wisconsin.  Sexton says the club will soon offer "Learn to Curl" nights on Sunday's on the community ice at Town Toyota Center.
The Sports Foundation has made available another $3,500 in grant money to sports groups, leagues and individuals in November.  Applications are available through the website at www.wvsportsfoundation.org or by calling 663-3723.  Deadline for application is November 30th.

Financial Aid Program Policies and Guidelines

Program Objectives

The purpose of the Wenatchee Valley Sports Foundation Financial Aid Program is to provide funding to deserving athletes, teams and coaches who require additional monetary support to continue their athletic achievement.  The program strives to enhance the social values associated with participation in athletics and believes that our community’s quality of life can be attributed to the active lifestyles of our citizens.  The primary focus of the program is financial support for youth sports athletes who are in need.

Eligible Applicants

Youth athletes  (under the age of 18) are given priority.  Adult and senior athletes and teams are still eligible.

Coaches or sports representatives of athletic teams located in or representing Chelan or Douglas Counties.
